Old Vice Grips?

A couple weeks ago a friend on the forums asked about my vice grips that were shown in one of my pics… They are identical, except for the adjuster knob, to a set he has that were his grandfathers, that are dated April 1941… He wondered how these are.

I’m not actually sure mine are Vice Grips brand, or another brand… The only markings I can find on it is this;

I’ve always loved that set of pliers since their so stout, but hate the lack of a release lever on the handle;
