Custom woods tools

Lee Reeves Nessmuck hatchet, 5160(IIRC), cocobolo. 3–1/8” edges, one thick for rough work, one thinner for fine work. 15” overall. Only thing I’ve ever ordered from a custom maker, ordered in fall 2006 or spring 2007, with about a 13 month wait…  got it some time in spring 2008. Was DEFFINETALLY worth it!

Originally a wedged head, but cocobolo and 0% humidity at -40F is a bad combo.. it shrinks, and gets slick. The head came off in use twice, so I cross drilled it and “pinned” the head in place with a large chicago screw.  Not a makers error/defect, just a bad wood choice on my part.
